1968 – IN THE BEGINNING
Jim and Mary Conrad open Penn-Air Company in a rented garage in York City with only three (3) product lines.
In 1968, Jim and Mary Conrad opened Penn-Air Company in a rented garage with only three product lines. In less than five years, the company outgrew both its space and name. The Conrads moved the new Penn-Air & Hydraulics Corp. to a former fire station in downtown York, giving them the opportunity to grow their product lines and their workforce.
Fueled by strong relationships with suppliers, Jim expanded operations into Maryland with Pneu-Force in 1988. It wasn’t long before both companies needed more space. In 1996, he integrated operations into a 24,000 square foot headquarters on York’s Industrial Highway. The acquisition of Konstance Pneumatics followed, driving Penn-Air’s growth throughout the years.
PennAir shifts to align with its acquisitions made in the last two years with the creation of a holding company, The Conrad Company.
The Conrad Company brands include: PennAir – pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation; GreasePoint – lubrication; Hanover Conveying Systems-conveyors and fabrication; Compressor Maintenance Company – compressed air and services; and Allied Hydraulic Service Company – hydraulic component repair; Valley Fluid Components – pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation; Capitol Tool – precision machining; Lubromation – lubrication.
The Conrad Company’s vision is to help 3 million customers, to be “Great Place to Work” certified, and to be the most dependable collection of manufacturing, distribution, service, and repair brands in the USA.
Chief Executive Officer, Seth Bray, shares, “This industry is about people, and we have forgotten that. Most of us are focused on taking orders based on a part number, but not actually solving problems. Our brands have highly capable people focused on solving industry-specific problems because people need help, and we are here to help them KICK@$$.” The creation of The Conrad Company optimizes the brands mentioned above, enabling them to work together while remaining focused on their areas of expertise. “These partnerships have already had such a positive impact on One Another, Our Customers, Our Suppliers, and Our Community.”
“We are going to continue to hire immense talent that still believes in solving problems and taking care of customers. We will continue to add brands focused on helping people in manufacturing. Together, I think we can change the way industrial distribution is done,” Bray said.
The Conrad Company is an ever-growing collection of highly technical brands focused on redefining industrial distribution.
